I cannot seem to find much else on this DOS. I wonder if there are any legal concerns vis-a-vis Microsoft. And I wonder if this this download works as promised.Any insights are appreciated.-Lou

MS-DOS 7.1 (.iso) download pc
Download File: https://3menpi0ili.blogspot.com/?download=2vKhzY
Dear fellas, I'm sorry to revive such an old topic but I have a question. I watched a video about DOS 7.10 on YT and it said on the video that MS-DOS 7.1 is free and distributed under GMU GPL. Is it really so? If true, where can I download it?
NOW I understand that means Win95B-Win98SE contain DOS 7.1. So I hunted for 7.1, found it on WinWorldpc.com (Abandoned Software) and downloaded "Microsoft DOS 7.1 (CD)>Version 7.1 (China DOS Union)>Size 8.09MB>Architecture x86>Contents CD-ROM ISO" .
I needed a Fractint fix, so I then did as Philip Yip suggested and downloaded/installed VMware Player and tried to install the DOS 7.1 ISO into it... no luck so far. So I then installed my Win98 CD into VMware... installed fine... and then installed Fractint into virtual Win98 by Drag-and-Drop. (Yes, I found VMware accepted DragNDrop whereas VirtualBox would not.) And finally enjoyed Fractint for a few hours.
I recently stumbled across my old copy of Datalight ROM-DOS 7.1 from back in the day when it was given away as a free download (nowadays, acquiring a copy requires a payment of about $60 to attain a single user license for personal use, which I think is a bit silly).
You can now easily download MS-DOS for free. Experiencing the old versions of operating systems that can take you back to the time where all the OS were not supporting the GUI (Graphical User Interface). And each and everything was based on the command line.
You will need to remember that MS-DOS was available on the floppy disk. In case, if you are using a floppy disk, you might configure your booting sequence to floppy. However, if you have download MS-DOS then you will only need to create a CD or DVD bootable drive.
For help getting started, see the online documentation in the wiki. You need to provide your own game IWAD. If you do not have a copy of a doom-engine game, the easiest way to obtain them is to purchase them from Steam or GOG. When you download them from either of these stores, ZDoom will automatically find them.
ZDoom supports using FluidSynth for MIDI playback. To use it, extract libfluidsynth.dll to the same directory as zdoom.exe and then configure it from within ZDoom. FluidSynth is bundled with GZDoom since v3.1.0, so this separate download is only useful for older versions.
ZDoom supports using TiMidity++ for MIDI playback. To use it, extract timidity.exe and timidity.cfg and read the instructions. TiMidity++ has become an internal player integrated within GZDoom since v3.3.0, so this separate download is only useful for older versions.
A DETH-based editor for ZDoom that runs in a DOS box. Comes with minimal documentation. If you don't already know how to use DETH, you should go find a good tutorial that explains it. If you plan on doing any ACS scripting, you should be sure to also download ACC below.

FreeDOS is a complete, free, DOS-compatible operating system. Any program that works on MS-DOS should also run on FreeDOS. Along with being completely free to download and use, it can also be shared for anyone to enjoy!
Next click on Settings > Storage > Controller: IDE > Empty. In the Attributes section, there is a CD icon with a drop-down arrow that will allow you to browse for your FreeDOS ISO that was just downloaded. Click the OK button to end the wizard.
If you are using one of the FIRST German or Danish (and probablysome other non-US versions) of the OEM Service Release 2 (OSR2) version ofWindows 95, there is an ERROR in the IO.SYS system file, which preventsHIMEM.SYS from loading in the HMA area, leading HIMEM.SYS to use 45 Kb ofconventional memory instead of 1 Kb.You can downloadthe IO2PATCH.EXE program here. This program fixes the problem. Justput the IO2PATCH.EXE file in the root of your bootup drive (usually C:\), where theIO.SYS system file is placed, execute the IO2PATCH program, and then the problem shouldbe fixed.
I made a FreeDOS-themed 2023 wall calendar for my office, and made it available for anyone to buy. If you want a version for yourself, you can order it on Lulu. The screenshots are from FreeDOS 1.3, and are Creative Commons Sharealike-Attribution. You can download the images for yourself, I've shared them at Calendar 2023 on the website.
